![]() What I do know is when im using it on wifi. If you can get fiber internet, you're much better off with that. > If you can only get 4G (such as tower has 5G but no midband 4G, or whatever else) expect 20-100/5-20. > If you can get 5G lowband (within 4-5 miles) expect 100-300/30-70 > If you can get 5G NR (generally within a mile of a tower) you can get 500/100 or more I'll leave it up to you to find an app for your phone to get this info. The way T-Mobile has things configured, you need to be able to get midband (band 2 or preferably 66) on your phone with decent strength in order to get 5G of any kind. ![]() Speed will vary based on what you can get, at your house, which again cellmapper can help with. I have plenty of devices connected behind it with no issue (albeit using my own mesh network for unrelated reasons). The service is reliable enough for me to play online games for 8+ hours straight with no issues. Basement is not recommended, the highest floor is usually the best, against an outside wall facing your nearest cell tower (you can look this up on cellmapper). The setup advice I have is to position it in various areas of the home and test your speeds, don't follow the indicators on top. Keep in mind that you have no public IP address so port forwarding WILL NOT WORK (and by extension neither will upnp). You can also connect it to your existing router and disable the built-in wifi should you desire. The device is much like the gateway you would rent from a cable provider, and contains wifi a/b/g/n/ac/ax as well as 2 ethernet ports to connect to your existing devices. You will generally receive the equipment within 2-3 business days. You'll have to use the availability checker to see. Availability varies, but it's more reserved for suburban and rural areas. Lots of variables, so I'll try to give a thorough answer: But how does speed compare to optimum? We have optimum 100 i believe and pay close to 90 dollars a month. this internet is 5g? So its not cable internet like optimum right? And obviously its not fiber optic like fios. and this much for this speed etc.Īnyone here use t mobile home internet as their permanent internet in place of optimum or fios? The thing is. should be no issue? I heard the speed is not that fast? But is everyone paying the same for this service for same speed? I dont see anything mentioned like okay t mobile home internet is xx amount for this speed. like say 5 phones and a few laptop connected to it. Now is this internet very strong and reliable though? Like if you do important things online where you need internet and you have many devices. Now if we order it, how long will it take to receive the equipment? Its modem and router? Or its just one modem that acts as router as well? But when we install it, best to put it in first floor right? But we could anytime just move it to second floor or basement with no issue since its just plug in etc? Thus not much wiring? So if that is the case and we use t mobile for phone, that mean t mobile home internet would be available in our area right? Now we have t mobile cell phone and we use it at home and outside with no issue. ![]() But then someone mentioned about t mobile home internet. I know verizon fios is available in our area. ![]() So we paying almost 90 a month and sometimes internet doesn't work for few seconds or minute and/or slow etc. But the last time we contacted them, they said they won't do it anymore. We had called them and few times they gave us a discount. But signal wasn't that great in basement but now its much worst.Īlso back then we paid like 60 dollars for it a month. Back then, the wifi reached to first floor with no issue and basement as well. Its a two story house with basement and we put the modem and router in second floor. the internet many times has issues when its slow or not working for a bit. The issue now is its close to 90 dollars a month. We have optimum online for many years already. ![]()
